Dear Knights,
Despite it being a short week for the students, we had a lot happening on campus. Thanks to all for attending the Band Concert on Tuesday evening. Thanks to Ms. Sholine for a fun filled evening of showcasing our musicians. Thursday night's National Junior Honor Society Program was well attended and provided for a formal, pride filled evening for our 8th graders. Please mark your calendars to stop by October 15th from 12:30-2:30pm for our first inaugural Hispanic Heritage Festival. The Spanish department is working feverishly to make this a memorable event. Please stop by to show your support! In the classrooms......Geometry students had a City of Lakeland City Planner guest speaker and are working on creating their own cities. Algebra classes are finishing up their Bone Activity as well......7th Grade Science with Mr Thomas constructed Pond Water Food Webs this week and the 8th graders constructed History of the Atomic Model timelines........Mrs. Narramore's LA 7th graders served on legal debate teams in relation to the characters of Nag and Nagaina from Rudyard Kipling's Rikki Tikki Tavi......Mr Jones's Creative Writing classes rehearsed and presented their play "Swimming with Sins" and learned theatrical and dramatic terms while stretching themselves in front of their peers onstage.......Emerging Tech classes are using and creating with the app Aurasma, totally cool...............Mr Dinwiddie's classes are solving expressions with rational numbers and charting them.......Mrs. McDaniels' 7th grade LA classes are making character Wanted Posters in the form of R.A.F.T. model which encourages students to uncover their own voice and format for presenting their ideas about curriculum and content. As you know, FSA scores have been released and at this point I'm thrilled with the results. Fantastic work by our students! I am also extremely proud of our entire dedicated faculty and staff. Despite the ongoing controversy surrounding standardized testing, it inspires me to see our collective competitive drive take over and make us shine! We are currently looking at the week of 10-26 to release individual student scores. Asante~ Brian J. Andrews Principal Comments are closed.
