This is the quote they needed to respond to: "Experience is life’s greatest teacher.” What does that mean and how does it relate to your OM experience this year? “The Odyssey of the Mind competition was super fun, and it was an amazing experience. The hard part is to wait till it comes around again next year!” “My favorite part about Odyssey of the Mind was being able to complete a task while being able to be creative and have fun. That is something that is not presented very often in schools.” “This quote, to me, means that you can fail many times, and you may not even win, but the experience is the best part.” “This quote relates to my experience at the OM competition because even though the judges clearly didn’t see how amazing we were, that’s ok because we’re going to do better next year.” Good Day Knights,
We have had a calendar full of action for February......most recently, new students to Global Tech have been busy learning the design cycle in creative ways....Mrs. Bland's Environmental Symposium class has their JAMIS Monarch Garden in full effect, including organic weed killer, look for it as it grows as you wind around the car rider loop....Spanish classes have begun vdeo conferencing with students in Spain.....LA classes are wrapping up their Poetry Units, with Mrs Harwell's classes doing a scavenger hunt and coffeehouse readings, culminating with Mrs. Harwell playing the guitar and singing with the students!.....Mrs McDaniel's classes completed outstanding works, including concrete, bio, and cinquain projects.....Mrs. Butler's classes had some learning fun with noise putty while studying plate tectonics, fun!.....Mrs. Tergler and Ms Thomas escorted select 8th graders to the History Fair competition, with LCMA taking 1st place group and individual website!!!.....We participated and represented in LCMA's first Odyssey of the Mind competition in Tampa on Saturday, we had 10 teams participate and 3 teams placed and received ribbons!!.....On Saturday @ Tenoroc HS our Orchestra, led by Mrs. Baker, received straight superiors!!.....Our girls and boys are also starting off strongly on the soccer fields....Go Knights!! Good Friday Knights!
With the start of the 2nd semester, it appears as though the groundhog has predicted spring will come early this year...Students and teachers continue to work diligently in the classrooms each and every day....the All County Music performances were a success............Math Counts competition begins this weekend, the students have been putting in a lot of extra time with Mrs. DiGioia and we wish them luck.......We are proud to have our LCMA school community contribute to the District's Accreditation approval. We were selected to be observed by an accreditation team for the district process, and our students and teachers received the highest of praise and feedback at the end of the day. Very humbling and amazing!......A few classroom happenings....6th grade SS classes are learning about relative and absolute locations through riddles......7th grade Civics classes are working on a new unit "You Be the Judge", with a writing prompt including the question "Should schools be allowed to limit students' online speech".....Algebra students are exploring exponential functions while Geometry is analyzing the properties of polygons.....Mrs. Sitta's classes have been busy working on their energy machines.....Please take a look at the website for testing schedules and updates......Emerging Tech classes are learning to code with OzoBot robots.....Proud 8th graders students will be presenting their Community Projects to their advisors on Monday.. If you happen to bundle up tonight to enjoy “First Friday” downtown, stroll by Nathan’s to catch a preview of songs from “Peter Pan.” You might just meet the boy who refuses to grow up…and one certain villainous pirate!!
