Hey Knights! Despite FSA testing cramping our style and scheduling, we are still providing strong instruction across the board. Our teachers are exemplifying flexibility and adaptability in the finest ways in their classrooms. Mrs. Sitta: culminating project presentations relating to Body Systems...fantastic collaborative work by the students. Mr Jones's Creative Writing 7th graders just completed converting their original fables into children's books. They also shared them with local elementary school students. What a great experience on both sides for the kids. Mrs McDaniel and Mr Owens' 7th grade classes are working on insights they can gain from literature on leadership vs blind faith. Mrs Butler: used her extended time in fabulous fashion y providing her 7th graders with a fun way to enhance our IB learner profile traits playing UNO. Mrs Campbell's: 8th graders are working creatively on their Shark Tank projects. I'm looking forward to participating in the judging. MacDonald’s Emerging Tech classes are learning all about a new presentation app called SlideIdea!! Mrs Digioa's Algebra/Geometry students are taking advantage of some block time to prep in groups for the important EOC exams. They also used hats to inspire topics for real world problems that were self-created. Great work. Civics classes with Mrs. Hall and Tregler: creating the perfect presidential candidate based on history. We were honored with Judge Spoto spending the day speaking to all 7th grade students. Mrs. Thomas and Mrs LeRoy's 8th grade SS students are finishing up their powerful and professional Westward Expansion Projects, all incorporating their own websites to display all that they have learned. Portfolio Testimonials It is always nice to see a compilation of (my child’s) work. Compared to where she started, there is definitely an improvement and maturity with her work. Some people pay for private school to receive the excellent education my son receives here at L.C.M.A. Nice to see different work in the different classes. Enjoyed seeing the work and having my son explain it to me. My daughter has grown to appreciate classes she did not appreciate initially. One thing I noticed was that my son’s handwriting had improved and he was excited to go over all his work with me. Nice to have an opportunity to review assignments from all of her classes. We find his progress amazing! I appreciate all you do for the students. I couldn’t be happier or more satisfied with the education my daughter is receiving here at Lawton Chiles. My child had all her a work organized into each class and she answered all of my questions. I saw her weaknesses and her strengths. The portfolio meeting told me all about what she did in her classes. I enjoyed seeing the stuff my daughter truly enjoys working on as it shows in her work. This is my first experience with a “child-led” conference, and I actually liked it. Hearing my daughter talk about her work, sometimes with excitement, was an interesting experience. Best~ Brian J.
