Hey Knights!
Thanks to the students, staff and volunteers in making the last 2 weeks a perfect blend of learning with an added bit of fun! All students have given back in some way in making Red Ribbon Week a success in providing needed awareness in making the right choices to be safe and healthy. Mrs. Bland and her students spearheaded the Pennies for Patients campaign which concluded with administration finding themselves in a "sticky" situation! Check out FB for more on that......The annual Music Department's "Walk the Wire" was a sound success as well; thanks to all the volunteers and student participation contributing to the finest music program in Polk County! Mrs. McDaniel's LA classes were busy learning some grit and resilience with their ipads and researched "How competition can help us become better people" and how "Winning and losing can be done with both grace and dignity"....resulting in an argumentative essay analyzing competition/conflict in 2 or more texts......Mrs. Tregler provided some living, literal examples of the Constitutional Amendments....think of her wearing a bear costume, and now think which amendment?? .......6th grade LA classes held their annual "Cay Day"last week, which provides an opportunity for students to empathize and actively engage in activities allowing them to experience a disability.....powerful......thanks Mrs harwell and Mrs. Narramore.......6th grade Math is applying ratio, rates, and units to become Savvy Shoppers, experiencing what its like to create a family budget.....Mrs. Campbell's Global Tech classes are using Tynker to code their own video games, ask the kids about it! Mr. Jones's Creative Writing classes are working on their monologues and they are fantastic to listen to aloud.....Mr. Jones's own monologue inspired the students to reach for the sky! Our Fab Lab is continuing to move forward under Mr Patterson's leadership.....the vinyl cutter is being tackled currently.....while more intricate 3D printing designs are being produced. In facility news....we are excited and grateful to the district for providing us with a new scoreboard for the gym.....the process is in the works now!! Dankie, Brian J.
