Dear Knights,
I sincerely hope that this letter finds you well. The past week has been an incredibly difficult time for our community. Whether you were evacuated, sheltered in place, or helped loved ones in need, all of us were affected by Irma. I am proud of the stories I have seen and heard of our community helping one another. The generosity of the Lakeland community is inspiring. As I entered the building over the weekend, I was amazed to notice that it all looked the same with its warm and welcoming atmosphere you always find when you enter our school. Minor issues were addressed quickly and efficiently by our district maintenance and custodial crew. We were incredibly blessed not to have sustained any major damage. As you know, we plan on resuming classes on Tuesday, September 19th. We will recognize regular hours tomorrow and attempt to keep things as normal as possible for our students. Getting back to a routine can often be the best approach to a crisis. With that, we will allow time for students to get acclimated and to reflect in classes. I’m aware that some of our families are currently displaced to motels/apartments, staying with others or housing extra guests in need. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us if we can be of help. If your child does not have their school uniform with and you need assistance, please send your child to school with what you have. We will work to get replacements/donations through our counselors and/or PTSA. If you need ANY assistance, whether it be housing issues, clothes, uniforms, food, school supplies, or emotional support....please make us aware. In addition, until October 20th ALL meals at school (breakfast and lunch) will be free for ALL students @ LCMA. Please give your child a hug from us and tell him/her that we cannot wait to see them tomorrow! Thank you all for being such an important part of our LCMA family and for staying strong. Go Gently, Brian J. Andrews Comments are closed.
