In 8th grade U.S. History students are working on their museum exhibits: finding primary source documents, music and pictures telling the story of one of the first five president’s term in office. They have researched his domestic and foreign policies, economic and political issues and significant events. Our classrooms will be turned into a museum gallery and student will play the role of a museum curator putting their exhibits on display for their classmates. 6th grade ELA students just finished researching famous people in history who have grit and determination and overcame adversity. They designed presentations and shared with each other examples. Teaching them to be resilient! Algebra students are learning how much a $150,000 house really costs after paying it back at 7% interest over 30 years. Geometry students are learning how difficult to measure distances can be found using similarity. 6th Grade World History students have been investigating to find the primary reason for the fall of the Roman Empire. They are interpreting data from excepts, charts and maps, planning their response and drafting a well written paragraph to answer this question in support of Language and Literature classes, as we all prepare for FSA Writing! This Valentine’s Day Mrs. Gibson's 8th grade science students described an event or encounter where they ‘grew’ within their IB Learner profile area. They hung them in the hall. We are also exploring how stars are classified (Advanced Comprehensive) and in Honors Earth we are learning about the impacts of Weathering, Erosion and Deposition. In Mr. Jones's Creative Writing classes......6th Graders are learning how to prepare for the business world by writing imaginary resumes and cover letters. 7th graders have recently completed original fables, and are currently working on folk tales. 8th graders have created scenery for their original short stories and are now working on characterization, dialogue, and plot. We had 90 band students perform at Solo/Ensemble February 10-11th, earning 147 superior medals!!!!!! 6th grade Mrs. Thomas's Global tech students......made recycled instruments and performed in quartets...all inspired by Paraguay's Landfill Harmonic Orchestra https://vimeo.com/204211389 http://www.lcmaglobaltech6.com/blog Comments are closed.
