Hi Knights!
Fantastic article today in The Ledger (check it out) regarding our wildly successful Hispanic Heritage Festival! Thanks to Mrs. Garcia, Castillo, Patient and Barnett for the countless hours organizing the event. We could not have done it without the amazing efforts and contributions of our LCMA PTSA! I cannot say enough about Mayor Wiggs and the City of Lakeland folks for being there and supporting us whenever we reach out to them. It was just a perfect blend of celebrating and learning for our students. I was very proud of their behavior and respect they displayed to all our participants. Even with this pomp and circumstance, we are still going strong in the learning department.....Geometry students recently completed their City Planning Projects and they were amazing, they are also reading the novel, Flatland (yes! in math class!), analyzing the classic satire and its connection to Geometry. The students are also working on a new unit on Functions, which includes a community service aspect feeding the hungry through Lighthouse Ministries.........The Environmental Symposium class fared well at the Cardboard Boat Race @ Lake Hollingsworth last Saturday and they have begun research projects regarding saving Monarchs and dangers of run off.......6th grade LA classes traveled back in time to the Gold Rush Era with activities including a historical fiction letter writing assignment.......6th grade SS classes had the students role play and board their own faluccas in Ancient Egypt traveling down the Nile River, they made several stops along the way to experience important monuments, the tour guides were better than at Disney's Jungle Cruise.......out 7th graders flew their completed Hot Air Balloons in Freedom Park.......6th graders got to exclaim the famous line "EUREAKA!" as they explored the buoyancy, mass, and density of objects and the Archimedes Principle.....8th graders are taking their business designs to the prototyope phase by using 50% recycled materials for their concept designs......Creative Writing is churning out some amazing poetry right now and I am excited to see our students go up against other schools......super stuff!! Larga viven los caballeros! Brian J. Andrews Principal Comments are closed.
