What a wonderful time of the year for that extra taste of charity and gratitude! We are all thankful for the recent news this week that we are again rated an A school in the most recent FSA simulation. It truly is a conjunctive effort comprised of the students, parents, staff and community. Thank you for all you do every day to make this a true school of excellence. We are staying strong in the classrooms engaging the students. Global Tech 6th grade has been busy building rockets and airplanes to launch and fly respectively....great hands on skills. Mrs. Harwell had her annual "minute to win it" brainteaser activities, very fun and engaging.....In 7th grade Language & Literature, we are studying persuasive techniques. One of the techniques appeals to emotion like in Barbara Jordan's essay, "All Together Now." The LEQ is, "How do we create a harmonious society out of so many kinds of people?" .....Mrs. Narramore's classes wrote scenes to accompany a memoir set in the 1950's and recored them on thier ipads....6th grade World History students spent some time performing skits representing the 4 types of Ancient Greek government, possibly developing some politicians and thespians......Civics classes are learning about the Legislative branch and have begun writing bills, go future lawmakers!....Mrs. Sitta's classes have been conducting labs on erosion and learning about how landforms of FL have been shaped...Algebra students have just completed an investigation to determine the correlation among nutrients and calories in food, using excel to create scatterplots to calculate the correlation coefficient....Geometry students are learning how to logically and conclusively prove congruence in polygons which is essential in engineering and construction....Environmental Symposium presented to teachers this week on reducing your carbon footprint, LCMA will be working to reduce our footprint on 12/17 campuswide...Eighth grade Global Tech students completed their Rube Goldberg challenges based on the cartoonist/inventor’s popular cartoons depicting complicated gadgets that perform simple tasks in indirect, convoluted ways....Thanks Mr. Thomas for coordinating the Science Fair, congrats to the following students: Julia Chancey earned 1st place with her project "Florida's Ultraviolet Radiation" and will be going on to the Regional Science Fair Mansi Patel earned 2nd place with her project "Rainbow Refractor" Kairi Kramer earned 3rd place with her project "Micro Plants get Watered" Bella Morris earned Honorable Mention for her project "Slime Lutnya Bogdanova earned Honorable Mention for her project "Soda Bubbles" Go Gently, Brian J.
