Hi Knights!
Tempus Fugit! But lots of good to share over the last 2 weeks @ LCMA! We have been busy in the classrooms with rigor and creativity. Students have spent time preparing their academic portfolios for LCMA's first student led portfolio nights, which take place next week. Please make every effort to attend with your child. It is a very simple, yet powerful opportunity to connect with what your child is doing academically on campus.......Mrs. Wiseman held the first Student Council Meeting and we had a super turn out. The election of officers will follow an Electoral College format, which lends to a more involved campus......Creative Writing is featuring outstanding monologues and Mr. Jones's personal monolog once again illustrates that he NOT only teaches, but he does, and does well!! He leads by example with his own writing and acting prowess......In addition his 6th graders have written formal and informal letters, 7th are writing marketing proposals, and 8th is writing side-splitting original parodies......REMINDER: the Harrison School of the Arts window is now open through January 8th........Mrs. McDaniel is excited to share that her 7th graders are doing a fantastic job on their second benchmark argumentative essays, they are making precise, credible, relevant references to sources, SUPER!........Emerging Tech classes are all learning in depth Office 365 and will share out school wide to assist other students......Geometry students are creating original artwork using transformations and tessellations, amazing work students and Mrs. DiGioia, math classes also collected a record 858 food items to donate to Lighthouse Ministries and our community .........Congrats to our all state chorus students, 7 in all, and one honors orchestra student! We also had 22 all county chorus students and Mrs. Baker was honored to be selected as the 6th Grade Clinician.......The Chess Team and Coach Brown took 1st Place, with Satvik Gunjala taking 1st overall individual!......Mrs. Hall reports 70 students for the FCA this Friday!.....Mrs. Bland took her students to Osceola Performing Arts for a series of short stories, including The Necklace, Monkey's Paw, super cultural experience, behavior and dress our students part.........Honor Roll Celebrations were a rousing success last week thanks to PTSA.......Girls Volleyball and Boys Basketball kicked off their seasons as well.......We are excited to have so many committed participants for next week's Great American Teach In, there is nothing like having shared real world experiences infused into students' learning, we thank you......Thanks to Mr. Gerlich and Mrs. Rogers for setting up our salute to Veterans this past week......
