7th Grade Language & Literature
Students read together in small groups, “Amigo Brothers,” and discussed and answered scaffold close reading questions. Then, students completed a Compare and Contrast graphic organizer, showing the differences and similarities both physical and personality, between the two main characters. 6th grade students started their historical fiction unit on the Gold Rush era and how an author like Jack London’s personal experiences can have a profound effect on their writing. 7th grade students learned about the author Piri Thomas and what Spanish Harlem was like in the late 1940’s/early 1950’s along with the importance of youth boxing to that community. 8th Grade Ind and Societies: Students are learning about propaganda and it's role in the colonies, leading up to the American Revolution! 👊🏻 Mr Bartuska's Science classes: As it turns out, Middle Schoolers (as compared to high schoolers) will sing! So today, my three 7th grade classes (3rd, 6th, and 8th Periods) are competing for the best at singing the “Food Chain Song” and the “Energy Flow Song,” both created by a teacher named Mr. Parr. Check it on Facebook! Mrs. Baker: 9 students auditioned for all state chorus this past week and 7 of them passed the first two levels and are going on to audition in round 3 for an opportunity to make it into the 2018 FL All State Choir! Mrs. Moore's 1st and 4th period classes challenged Mr. Andrews to a fraction activity!! Ask who won! :) Great week, great kids, great staff! Comments are closed.
